Dend Orchid

Question
Hi, I have a den. Nobile, I bought it 5 months ago, it was fine. A month ago I repotted, in regular orchid mix, I've been watering every two weeks, and mist it every day; I have it indoors, next to a south-west window, and I live in NJ. It just has two leaves and one is turning yellow and has wrinkles; but the roots looks fine.
What kind of care it needs, or it'll die soon?
Thanks!

Answer
A nobile dendrobium is a deciduous dendrobium.  It loses its leaves at the end of the growing season so that leaf yellowing and falling off is a normal part of its cycle.  This type of dendrobium has leaves and flowers which emerge from canes.  In subsequent years it might reflower from these same leafless canes.  I would stop the watering because the plant is in a resting mode until new growth starts.  You may continue to mist it from time to time to keep the canes from shriveling too much.  You should be aware that the most common reason for the death of nobile dendrobiums is watering them while they are at rest.  Nobile dendrobiums are known as cool growing dendrobiums so in addition to no water they should be cool while at rest (50 - 60 degrees F. if possible).  They also set buds with cool temperatures so in good weather they might like to be outside.
