phalaenopsis mistake

Question
I have a palaenopsis mix. Orchid, and It  has stopped blooming. So I didn't know and cut out the stem from the bottom,(3cm.from the leafs)What should I do?Will the Orchid grow a new stem, for how long and would it ewer bloom again?

Answer
Hello Alek,

You did not do any wrong, in fact you probably did the phalaenopsis a good favor.  With the stem removed the phalaenopsis plant is able to devote all of its energies and resources to growing and getting ready for the next bloom cycle this coming winter.  Until then, take good care of it.

Phalaenopsis like bright shade, temperatures between 60F to 85F, humidity above 50% along with some light air movement around it.  Water it when the potting mix becomes barely moist and it would be a good idea to feed it a little balance type orchid fertilizer once in a while.

Hope this has helped.
