Mushrooms growing in my Gerbra Daisy plants!

Question
ACK! I had a pink Gerbra Daisy potted plant that started to lose her leaves. As I inspected the soil around her I noticed TONS of tiny mushrooms covering the surface. I was disgusted and chucked the plant. Now it seems the spores from the mushrooms have spread and have infected my other Gerbra daisy plant, and my 4 small Basil plants. Is there anything to be done about these? Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Elise,

The mushrooms are harmless to your potted plants. Sometimes you can eradicate them by diligently removing them and a bit of the surrounding soil as they emerge. It may take a week or two to notice any decline.

If that fails, you can purchase a fungicide that can be used as a soil drench. Be sure the label designates mushrooms as one of the fungi it effectively treats. Follow the label directions carefully.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
