Is it an asparagus fern?

Question
I have a small plant that is divided from what my mother always called an asparagus fern. Looking on the internet for asparagus ferns showed fairly different looking plants.

This plant is a medium green and has round center stalks. Every 1/8" inch or so there is a node with 2, 3, 4 and even 5 little fronds about 1/2" long. They taper out from a point at the stem, are approximately the same width for the majority of the frond, and taper back to a point at the end. Lower down on the stalks, the nodes are visible, but there are no fronds. The stalks terminate at a node with a little star of 4 or 5 fronds.

The mother plant was quite large and had lots of little tubers in the root ball. They seemed to really take off when placed outside in the summer.

So is this an asparagus fern? If so, how should I treat it watering and light wise?

Thanks very much!

Answer
Hi Matt,

From your description, I would  say that you seem to be describing an asparagus fern, but I cannot be sure unless you email a photo to me at my address below.

Asparagus ferns do best when potbound and placed right in a sunny window. Water it thoroughly as soon as the top half inch of soil is dry. Fertilize sparingly at half strength monthly. Watch carefully for spider mites.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
