propagating schefflera

Question
Hi Darlene,

I pruned my schefflera arboricola and have several large offshoots sitting in water. I am wondering if I can place them in some soil in a pot to root them? Or is there a better way to propagate them? Do I need to look for a node or something else?

Thank you,

Adrienne

Answer
Adrienne,

Remove the lower leaves from your cuttings and dip them in rooting hormone and insert them in a pot of fresh soil. You can also cut off each individual leaf so only abou 1/2 inch of leaf remains with the stem. That will increase your chances of the cuttings rooting.  You might also want to spray them with water in the morning and evening. That would also help.  Good luck.

Darlene
