-----Question-----
Hello
I've inherited a tall plant with twisted stem (about 5ft tall. It looks like three stems plaited around one another. I think (but might be wrong) it was called a Mexican something... It has 'hands' of leaves -about five lone elliptical leaves on each hand.  I dont know how to care for it or find out what it is - it's dying now, leaves are going brown and dropping off.  Little baby ones were growing out of the stems but they too are falling off.  I dont know whether to give it lots of water or not.... Please help.

Katie,

I suspect that your plant is a Moneytree or Pachira. Here is a website with pictures and some care info. If that answers your questions great! If not write back and let me know how much light it is getting? What size pot it is in? How often you have watered it? How much water you give it? Good luck.

Darlene

Thanks Darlene - I may be being stupid, but cannot see the website to which you refer??

cheers

PS I started watering it loads, then stopped cos it didn't seem to like it, so now only when the compost feels dry.  It is next to a glass door onto the garden, so gets lots of light.

Answer
Kati,

If you can't click on the previous link go to Google.com and put in Moneytree care or Pachira care. That sight will come up along with other sites. I would reccommend that you not water it until it is dry and keep it in the sunny location. If you have more specific questions after reviewing those sites feel free to write again. If it is any consolation I found raising a Pachira to be difficult. Indoors it is hard to give it as much sun as it would like to have. I much prefer my ficus trees. Good luck.

Darlene
