insects curled up in ficus leaves

Question
Hi there Will,

I was wondering if you could help me. I brought I potted ficus (benjimina "nina") a few weeks ago, and I've notice a few of the leaves were curled up and little black slender bugs were living inside them. I pulled all the leaves off there were curled but the bugs are still there and curling up all the new leaves. I was wondering if you could tell me what they are and how to treat them.

regards
Tegan

Answer
Hi Tegan,

Those are not ordinary indoor Ficus tree pests and cannot be treated in a normal manner. Return the tree to the seller and get your money back. That is not a healthy tree.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
