Najavo Globe

Question
My Navajo Globe has lost all it's leaves and it is springtime. Is this normal? It is about 15 feet high and is going to be planted but for now is still in a pot.

Answer
Marianne,

No it is not normal for it to loose it's leaves. I normally answer houseplant questions but I will try to help you. You didn't say how long you have had it. This is a variety of a willow tree and needs to be kept moist but not constantly wet. It also needs full sun. You either allowed it to dry out or you kept it sitting in a bucket of water or you kept it in your garage so it did not get enough sun. It needs to be planted in the ground in a sunny location tomorrow. There is still a pretty good chance that if you get it in the ground in a sunny location and water it well once a week until it is established it will grow new leaves and become a large beautiful tree in your landscape. If you leave it in the pot and water it erratically for 2 or more days or keep it in the dark it will probably die. It needs planted. Good luck!
