snail

Question
I work in a Nursery and i found a tinsy winsy little baby snail and i figured I would see if it would fit in my new VFT from you guys I put it in and it kinda slipped and when it fell into the trap the darn thing closed before i could nudge it all the way..it is like 95% in the trap but the trap isnt able to 100% close..so will that leaf die or will the plant just reopen or something
the snail cant eat its way out can it?

Answer
Hi Matt,

It's very common for critters to get half-trapped in Venus flytraps.  The portion in the trap will get digested.  Sometimes the trap dies, sometimes it doesn't.  That usually depends more on the health of the plant, and how big the bug is, and how old the trap is.

Good Growing!
