Nepthenes Ventricosa yellow/black leaf?

Question
HI! I recently purchased a N.Ventricosa from you guys and it arrived in great condition!! I received it in early August and am wondering if it has a fungus growing or not. Since I received it its been squished by a falling drape, but survived, lost 2 pitchers, and has sprouted a new leaf and three little bitty pitchers. However today I noticed that one of the bottom leaves has turned yellow and blackish brown, its just the one leaf though. Is this leaf dying or is it a fungus? And should I cut it off?

Thanks!!

Sincerely,

Victoria

Answer
Hi Victoria,

This is simply an older leaf dying off.  As Nepenthes grow they loose lower leaves on the stem as new ones grow.  Over time they often form long brown stems as they vine out.  Fungus will usually appear as moldy patches.  Just cut off old pitchers and leaves as they die.

Good Growing!
