Is venus flytrap flower going to kill the plant

Question

venus flytrap flower s
allexperts,

I have a question concerning whether or not to cut this plant's flower stalk.  The reason why I am asking is that the weather in my area is a bit out of the norm.   It has been in the 80's to 59 during the day.  It does sort of look that it is stressing the plant a bit.  attach is photo.

Sincerely

Answer
Hi Weylin,

That plant is far from healthy.  In your previous question, you indicated that you were growing your flytraps indoors.  This is not at all how we recommend growing flytraps.  Some people can make it work, but 9 times out of 10, people fail.

Flytraps will sustain both flowers and leaves if they're healthy, such as when they're growing outdoors in full sun.  Unhealthy plants will flower, but they usually do so as a last ditch effort to propagate itself.  So in this case, your plant will likely die if you allow it to flower.  Otherwise, with healthy plants growing in the proper conditions, you can enjoy both the traps and the flower.

Good growing!
