Companion plants

Question
I am wondering if there are any plants I can grow in the same soil as my CP's I was wondering about cranberries, I believe they like acidic bog soil. Have you guys ever tried growing cranberries with sarracenia or flytraps?
Also, I really like ferns. Are their any ferns I can grow with my cp's? If so, I know ferns like shade, how would I get the fern to look healthy while giving my plant full sun?

Answer
Hi John,

Besides the nasty sedge grasses that will try to grow in your pots no matter what you do, several non-carnivorous bog associate species will grow with cp.  Cranberry and Lingonberry both will grow in peat moss.  So will Bog Blueberry, Calapogon orchids, and Cinnamon Fern.  I know there are others, especially orchids that grow in bog conditions, so a little research would yield some of those.

The devil can be in the details with these plants and carnivores, however.  Most of these are used to low amounts of soil nutrients, but not as low as cp.  You may need to fertilize them a little.  A few Osmocote pellets around the non-carnivores will help them out some.

Good Growing!
