what is wrong with my purple leaf sandy cherry? it looks like it's "scorched".

Your photo is a bit too out of focus to see clearly. Are the twigs dying back from the ends?
May be helpful to snip off a twig and show it to your local nursery- just helps to see this in person- sometimes a photo isn't detailed enough.
