Rats in garage

Question
Hi I have rats in my garage their droppings are everywhere they eat my neighbors dog food and then live in my garage. I've noticed the last couple of years they have dug in the back of the structure and I now have mounds along the back of my garage. I have tried poison but they die in out of reach places and stink until I can find the carcass. Does the RatZapper work or what?

Answer
If I understand what a rat zapper is, (an electrocution device to kill rats), then yes it works. But trapping of rats can be quite time consuming. You just need to know that up front.

I think we need to step back and have you do some reading about how to handle rats using an integrated approach. Visit http://icwdm.org/handbook/index.aspx#rod   read the article on norway rats which is most likely what you have and the article on rodent proof construction.

You need to address the habitat, food, and then population to have long term success.
