PRUNING

Question
Hi, i wonder if you can help me with a little problem i have? I would like some advice on correctly how to prune "broom"

Answer
Hello, I assume that you mean Spanish broom (Spartium junceum)

If so, it can be hard-pruned in March to stimulate lots of fresh, new growth. Cut back to a height that you wish and remove s or 3 of the older stems right back to the base of the plant. From then on it should be maintained annually by removing the flowered (faded) stems right back to the base of the plant. This will create a cycle of new/old stems that will grow, mature and provide you will flowers every year
