rainbird

Question
I have a rainbird rc-7A, the station wheel has stopped moving automatically.  Is there something to repair or should I replace the controller.  Can it be replaced with any controller?

Answer
Hey JM I hope this helps. If the staion wheel has stopped working, there is usually 2 things it could be. The first thing is a switch that triggers the motor to turn the station, when the controller is told to start running. The second thing is the actual motor on the station wheel. This controller has two motors, one runs the clock wheel, and one runs the station wheel. I would say that the motor on the station wheel is bad and needs to be replaced. Otherwise it's the activation switch that triggers the wheel. If you would like to replace the whole unit, Almost any controller would be okay. The main thing is, if you need a unit that is outdoors(waterproof) or an indoor mount controller. The only other thing is the number of stations the system has. Most controllers start at 6 stations, then 9 stations, etc. I would recommend a controller made by "Irri-trol" it is callled a "Rain-Dial" controller and is easy to program. If you want to stay with a mechanical controller, stay with the Rain-bird models if they still make them. Good luck and have a great day.
