hand pollination needed?

Question
I need to know if I should hand pollinate my cantaloupe in a garden that already has several other plants producing fruits such as tomatoes, green squash, and green beans. How would I go about hand pollination?

Answer
Dear Christa,
I'm not sure why the cantaloupe would have been left out of the natural pollination process, but if that is the case.  To hand pollinate, I use a cotton swab in the center of the blossoms and gently use the swab in the center of all the blossoms.  That's the method I use when I raise plants indoors without benefit of wind and insects.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
