Question
I planted brocolli this year for the first time, and was wondering if a new head would grow after I picked the first one or can I pull out the plants?

After picking the heads there is a possibility that brocolli will start to grow new heads but as a rule one plant, one head during one season. If new heads appear then they will be small and probably not amount to much for the balance of the season.
