1920s style arrangements

Question
I'm researching for a friend who wants to do a 1920s Art Deco style ball.  Where can I find - or do you know- what flowers or arrangements were typical of that era? What do you recommend?  Many thanks.

Answer
Art Deco is a phenomenally fun theme to work with!  Color is the key here... stay within a palate of red, white, black and silver to pull off the look.  For containers, try to locate something with mirror mosaic - fairly common in the home store these days... or silver.  Black glass would also work.  Think dramatic flowers... White Cala lily, Red Rose are two staples to work with.  Also silver artemesia for greens, deep red Hypericum berry, dyed black foliage for accent.  For inspiration, look at Erte's art from that time period.  Hope this starts you in the right direction.  I am happy to elaborate if necessary!
