Euphorbia griffithii

Euphorbia griffithii 'Fireglow' (Euphorbia griffithii) yew-FOR-bee-ah grif-FITH-ee-eye Genus:  Euphorbia This species has red stems and dark green leaves, which emerge in spring with a reddish tinge. In early summer, it bears conspicuous bracts of orange-red or red.  Noteworthy Characteristics:  Foliage goes dormant in summer. Because of its vigorous nature, it may be invasive in the right conditions. Milky sap may cause irritation to skin and severe discomfort if ingested. Care:  Prefers moist soil in dappled shade. Propagation:  Start seed when ripe or in spring; divide in early spring. Problems:  Nematodes, spider mites, aphids, mealybugs, fungal and bacterial diseases.
