Growing A Green Garden, Even If You Were Not Born With A Green Thumb

TIP! You need to consider beginning the plants into pots. Then, you can plant the seedlings into your garden.

Have you noticed that the grass literally seems greener on your fence’s other side? Has your neighbor got a secret which makes their garden look so much better than yours? To be honest, it’s not that hard to get a lovely looking garden. All you need is some knowledge on the proper care of your garden’s plants. You can begin your quest for knowledge by reading this article for some horticulture advice.

Plants Outside

TIP! All plants need an adequate supply of carbon dioxide in order to thrive. More CO2 generally produces more luxurious plant growth.

Your plants will respond better to gradual changes of environment. Start by placing your plants outside for a few hours only. Slowly, day after day, you can leave your plants outside for a little longer. After a week’s time, the plants should be fine staying outside.

TIP! Make sure to pre-soak seeds, preferably in a dark location. Drop some seeds into a small glass or other container, and fill it with water.

Plant vines like ivy to cover fences and dividing walls. Known commonly as climbers, these plants are very versatile, easy to grow, and they will quickly spread out to cover up walls and fences within a single season. They can also grow through existing shrubs or trees, or be trained to cover an arbor. Some types of climbers support themselves naturally through twining stems or tendrils, but others will have to be attached to something. Some climbers that have proven to be reliable are honeysuckle, jasmine, wisteria, clematis, and climbing roses.

TIP! Protect your deciduous shrubs which are tender. Cold weather is very hard on these tender shrubs, and potted shrubs should be shielded and protected.

If you want your garden to blossom with flowers throughout the spring and summer, plant some bulbs in it. Most bulbs are hardy and require little to no care in order to develop into beautiful perennials that will reappear each and every year. Different bulbs will bloom during different time periods. Therefore, if you select your bulbs correctly, you could have blooms in your garden for all of spring and summer.

TIP! Get some gardening knee pads if you find yourself kneeling on the ground a lot to do your gardening. Spending lots of time on your knees while gardening can injure them and create lasting pain.

Most of these ideas are quite simple and require little advance skill. Once you have a good grasp of the basics, then you are ready to put these ideas into motion in your own garden. Monitor how the plants in your garden respond to any new techniques that you choose to use. If one thing fails, try another technique. Have some patience, and soon you will have a garden that makes your entire neighborhood jealous.
