• Moderate growth rate

A round-headed tree 25 to 35 feet high and wide; branches form horizontal tiers with age. Rounded, rich green leaves with pointed tips are 3 to 6 inches long; autumn color is yellow. Early spring flowers are small and sweet pea shaped; colors include pink shades and white, depending on the variety. The selection 'Forest Pansy' has purple foliage borne on reddish branches.

Eastern redbud needs some winter chill to flower profusely. It makes an attractive patio, specimen, or understory tree.
