Phaelanopsis Orchids - Phals For Short

One of the two basic type of Orchids, the Oncidium Orchid, has a kind of pronounced lower lip, while the other type, the Phal Orchid comes without this kind of pronounced lower lip.

The Phal types are also the most easily recognizable plants that flower the world over. Since these types of Orchids are not from the regions of North America, a lot of people won't even know what you are saying is you bring up the Phal Orchids. The interesting thing is that if they see a picture of one of these Orchids, they will immediately recognize them.

If you go to Hawaii, you will be welcomed with the usual welcoming committee and perhaps a drink in a coconut shell, but you are also very likely to be given a lea made from Phal types of Orchids.

Phal types of Orchids are the bigger of the two basic types; they can have blossoms that are more than six inches in size. Their color schemes are like a rainbow moving from a pure white to a deep purple. And these types of Orchids are even more impressive due to the fact that they normally sport a wide variety of colors in various combinations.

Whenever you get a corsage for your significant other, the bloom in its middle is more than likely a Phaelanopsis Orchid. The usual nickname for this type of Orchid is actually Corsage Orchid, though technically it is called a Cymbidium Orchid. Whether it's the kind that is a pin-up Orchid or the type that goes on the wrist, it's usually the Cymbidium Orchid.

People who are interested in growing Orchids commercially almost always up for the Phal types because these are the types that are used for the corsage market. Since these days going "Green" has become almost a necessity, growing Cymbidium Orchids locally is good business practice. People prefer these locally grown Orchids for environmental safety reasons.

Orchids are not just grown for their blooms, they are also grown to be used in certain celebrations. Can you image a wedding or a prom night or even a hotel lobby without Orchids? The problem is that most Orchids bloom in the autumnal time of the year, which means that about nine months are needed to cultivate them for flowering. This is one reason why Phal Orchids are so valuable during the time of their flowering which lasts for about three or four months in a given year.

Whether it is for personal satisfaction or for commercial purposes, it is clear that the Phaelanopsis Orchid, which can also be referred to a the Moth Orchid, is the most valued Orchid for either those who grow or those who just plain love them. There is no question that they are the most stunning flowers when they bloom, and they are also easy to take care of, not to mention the fact that there isn't a soul in this world that is not suitably impressed every time they see them.
