Proper Caring Of Your Lawn

Owning a beautiful lawn obviously requires much care to be done in order to maintain it that way. There are many things to consider and do when maintaining a gorgeous lawn such as the right type of fertilizer, the method of weed control, proper watering and the prevention of lawn diseases as well as discouraging pests from ruining your lawn.

You don' t have to be an expert though to be able to do this and most likely you won't be needing to hire a gardener to do this kind of job as you can do it yourself. Here are some of the few important things needed when keeping your lawn healthy and green:

Do some research - Did you know that most type of grasses require 1 inch of water every week in order to maintain their healthy and vibrant visual appeal? Doing a little research on lawn care is essential as it helps a lot in giving you information on what needs to be done, grass facts, lawn care tips and techniques and many more.

Water thoroughly - This is basically the most known rule when it comes to gardening as it is also the most important when growing healthy lawn. Avoid watering frequently as it is not only unhealthy but it is also time consuming and it wastes you water. Instead, you should water your lawn as much as they need in order for the water to reach the roots. However, you should avoid excess watering of your lawn as it is not healthy also. When the grass receives sufficient amount of water, the roots will dig down deeper which in return makes your grass stronger and much more able to withstand the heat of the sun.

Regular mowing - This is also important as it encourages the healthy growth of your grass. Keep in mind though that you should not cut your grass more than one third of its height in order to avoid it from drying too quickly especially during the summer.

Aeration - This should be done in order to make your lawn healthy aside from giving the right amount of water and fertilizer that they need. You can do this by simply poking the ground with your pitchfork to create holes in the soil.

Weed control - Taking care of the weeds in your lawn can be a tough job to do but should be done regularly as weeds do come along regularly. You can either take them out manually, use insects or use chemicals to get rid of them. However, there are some weeds that manual plucking is useless. When manual plucking is impossible, most of us resort in using chemical treatment. The use of insects is usually left out as we always want quick and effective results.

Pests control - Pests can destroy a beautiful green lawn in a short time. Insecticides are often used when it comes to pest control as it is the most convenient and most effective way of getting rid of these scourges in your lawn. Follow up treatment should be done so that you can have a pest-free garden lawn.
