Planting Asparagus

Asparagus is one of the most commonly planted vegetables in a vegetable garden, but it is important that you plant them at the right time of year. You should not harvest the first year either because this allows the plant to become established. Apply a heavy mulch in the winter in order to help prevent the roots from heaving out of the ground.

Bug Brew

Another great vegetable gardening tip is to create a homemade recipe known as Bug Brew. This is a homemade recipe that can be used to repel bugs and caterpillars, and so this is a concoction that you are always going to want to have on hand for your vegetable gardening.

It is very easy to make and all you have to do is get a large pot, and in it you add about 2 liters of water, 6 garlic gloves, 20 black peppercorns, 5 Nasturtium leaves, and you boil all of this together for about ten minutes. After that you want to leave the brew to cool and then strain it into a bottle or jar and put a lid on it.

Make sure that you label it of course because you wouldn’t want to go and take a drink of it forgetting that it was for the vegetable gardening. You can use this several times a week on your plants and it will help to repel the bugs away.

Landscaping

Another important vegetable gardening tip is to keep an eye on the landscaping around your home. Trees may grow taller and start to pour shade on the plants and keep them from getting the sunlight that they need to strive. This doesn’t mean that you should just go along and cut down all the trees in the area, but you do want to make sure that they are kept trimmed.
