Building or Buying a Greenhouse

Deciding on the right type of greenhouse to buy or build is a very important step that should not be overlooked. You definitely don't want a greenhouse that will not meet your needs.

Researching the types of greenhouses, and accessories that are available is a must before you begin this project. Having a good understanding of what is available will make your decision easier, and you will end up with something that will meet the needs you want.

Depending on what you will be planting can also be an issue when deciding on what to buy or build. If you will have a variety of plants that will require different temperatures, you might be better off building or buying a couple of small greenhouses instead of one big one. By having a couple of small greenhouses you will be able to control the temperature for the type of plants in the greenhouse.

Choosing the proper location will be an important step. Selecting a location with plenty of sunlight will be ideal. Most plants require lots of sunlight, if the greenhouse doesn't get enough sunlight, artificial lighting might be required.

There are many prefabricated greenhouse kits and accessories available, or maybe you have opted in building your own. Depending on your budget and needs you will need to decide what will work for you. If you are in a tight budget, and you are handy with tools, building your own greenhouse is a great way to save some money. If you will be building it yourself, having plans will make this project allot easier and turn out better results. There are a few free greenhouse plans on the net, I have seen some constructed with PVC pipe, and are very simple to build.

Depending on your budget, you will need to decide if you will be buying a kit, have them built, or build it yourself. The budget you have will also determine what accessories you can afford to buy at the moment, you can aways add accessories as time goes by.

By having well thought out plans you can avoid problems in the future. Choose and prepare the location carefully, to avoid having to move it in the future. If you plan to expand the greenhouse, make sure you take that into consideration, when choosing the site. Careful planning can save you money and avoid future problems.

If you will be buying a kit, determine the best size that will meet your needs, the material, and style, and invest in the best kit your budget will allow.

If you will be building your own greenhouse, choose building plans for the design style, material, and size you need. Plans will come with a material list, this will give you an idea if you can build it within your budget.

Having a well built greenhouse will not only be a great investment, it will bring many years of enjoyment for any gardener. Remember to research, plan, and build the best greenhouse your budget will allow.
