The Best Way to Get Multiple Blooms From Your Mandevilla Plant

Are you looking for a beautiful plant with large beautiful flowers? If so, you should take a closer look at the Mandevilla plant. This vine is easily found in warm climate areas, and is popular among its growers. One reason for its popularity is the plant blooms almost all summer. The vine will wrap itself onto any sturdy object and climb to heights of 10 feet.

As an added bonus to its beautiful flowers and foliage, under ideal conditions, it will fill in any bare space at record speed. In addition, the plant does not have many problems with garden pests.

The Mandevilla plant will bloom best in an area that receives plenty of bright light. To get the most blooms from the plant it needs six to eight hours of sunlight daily. The plant can survive short dry spells, but not an extended drought. At the other end of the spectrum you don't want the plant to sit in water either. Whether grown in a container or ground, the plant needs good drainage.

If you live in a cold-climate area the Mandevilla can make a nice indoor potted plant. The trick to growing the plant indoors is providing it plenty of light and warmth. If you decide to grow the plant indoors during the winter, trim it back about six inches. There is no need to fertilize the vine during winter months.

If you live in the warm climate of the South, the Mandevilla plant is easy to get established and growing. This is because the plant is from Brazil, where the weather is similar to the southern US states. Most of the larger chain garden centers in the South have this plant available to purchase.
