History of timber carcass homes

Wood as a building material have been used since neolite. In Rome or Egypt was mostly used a stone, but roof systems were made from timber. During this long time period engineering and building skills evolved much more. But it is really hard to determine real frame construction homeland. We can say that principles of building in ancient Europe, United States, China and Japan were the same. The oldest timber frame house was founded in Japanese - Big Isy's shrine. In Europe wooden homes have been dated about XIII century and mostly progressed in Switzerland, Denmark, Germany and France. Very old wooden buildings were found in Scotland and Great Britain too. Timber cabins were forgotten for some period of the time, but today they are experiencing a revival.

The oldest buildings dated from about 670 AD are still standing in Japanese. Europe also has to be proud of timber framed structures - the old church built in 1130 years was founded in Norway, but it is thought that the church altar were dated in 1147 years. In the end of XVI century "Anne Hvides Gaard" was built in Denmark. This is the oldest private building, now a museum. A lot of french cities kept framing structures of XIII-XIV ages.

Timber framed homes were popular in the middle ages. This kind of collecting was called "Fachwerk". It was one of framed building ways where the main part is wooden beams and walls being influenced by the boot were filled with various materials. Germans constantly used wooden frames and brick combination.

This kind of building quickly spread in Great Britain, Austria and France. Some of earlier wooden houses which were known in Europe were found in Scotland and Great Britain. It is known that this building method was used in Great Britain in XII century. Now you can find here a lot of similar buildings. All framed house street is near Warwick Castle near the river Eivon.
A lot of wooden structures were built in London after World war II as a temporary building for replacing destroyed homes.

In all ages of human's living in building process were competed two materials - stone and wood. Stone was used for protection buildings and wood for living buildings. In the Northern Europe, where the climate is cold and dry wood became the main construction material. Fast building of massive wood structures has developed to frame type construction. This type of building is still used today.

The main thing about Fachwer houses - is a wooden carcass composed with oak and larch struts, kicks and crossbars. Elements of carcass structure served as carrier constructions and decoratively separate walls to make them brighter look. At the outset spaces were filled with straw or manure, later clay, stone or bricks. After few decades fillings were changing with leaving the old carcass. So it can be said that in different places were used materials founded underfoot. Although it's not prevented to house's beauty, warmth and strenght - otherwise this technology would not have survived till the present day.

To the American continent European people brought together frame building technologies. At that time there was no lack of wood and it was needed to build a lot of constructions as fast as it was possible. In that way, from the XVII century quickly rooted in North America. Many structures built in XVII century are strongly standing till today.

During the development period timber frame construction resolved not only a large number of engineering and building technology questions, but also helped to unify the construction details and create all wooden frame house building industry. Frame constructions gained such extent in the USA and Canada so at that point it is considered to be a major America's home building system. In 1900 year prefabricated frame structures constructed in factories have been proposed to the market. One construction company called "Reobuck&Co" contrived to sell a frame houses per post, using a 凷ears" home catalogs. In North America this company sold over 70 thousand homes with choosing possibility from 447 building's projects. Timber frame home kits were sent to customers through the rail with all details that the client can build by itself with friends or neighbours help.

The second period of log frame home birth was after the Second World War when immigrants flooded Canada and the United States. They had to be accommodated somewhere so in that way there was found many rich Americans which needed own houses in the suburbs of major cities. In order to make all increased need to be proved such a technology was necessary to comply with the requirements: short building therms, distinctive architecture, uninterrupted material's production and also high building's technical characteristics. So this kind of log cabins constructions found its beginnings in the middle ages and has become a popular way to build wooden houses in all the world.

In the United Kingdom and France timber home popularity is still not dying out till today. It could be called Renaissance in today's market. Wooden structures are used for houses, hotels or other building collecting. Some Great Britains companies overtake many Scandinavian building skills and creates both ecological and strongly-standing wooden homes. Building technology is markedly improved, quality wood, top quality building materials and respect for long-lived traditions. From the start frame homes could look very fragile, but first impression is wrong- it is a worldwide acknowledged, economical, long lasting, quality, architecturally mobile and durable construction method.
