Answer
Hello Bart! Sorry you are having problems with your pond. Algae is a pretty complex subject matter and a lot of it depends on other factors (pH level, number of fish in the pond, climate, nutrient level in the pond, etc.).
There are also different types of algae, but it comes generally in one of two forms: string algae or green water algae.
Most algae becomes a nuisance because the balance of the pond needs to be re-adjusted. There is too much or too little of something.
There is a free e-book available at www.pondmarket.com (just copy and paste that address into your browser) called "Basic Pond Maintenance" that explains what to do to keep the pond balanced. It is free, easy to read and covers all the important points to make the pond healthy and beautiful with a minimum of effort.
Please let me know if I can be of further help!
Best regards
Brigitte
