algae control

Question
I have a 90 gallon fish pond. The ph is good according to the test kit I have but the water is green and has been for 5 weeks. We clean the filters, scoop the pond, add pond clear, algecide and cannot clear the water. There is very little debris floating in the water. The pond is in almost full sun. We have a larger pond that we treat the same way and the water is crystal clear. What can we do?
I have 9 feeder goldfish and three tiny fantails in the pond.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Answer
It can be hard to control algae in smaller ponds especially in full sun.  Sometimes my tub ponds will go for a while with green water and clear over time.  What is in your 90 gallon pond exactly as far as plants and animals aside from the 12 fish you mentioned?  12 fish is a lot for a 90 gallon pond even if they are small.  The pond may not clear unless the number of fish goes down.  My page at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/algae2.htm has information on various ways to try to control algae.  See if that gives you any more ideas/options.  Good luck!
