Hibiscus brought Indoors

Question
We have brought our potted hibiscus inside by the indoor pool for the winter.  The lighting is great, both through the window and from the flourescents.  The temperature stays from 83-85 degrees Farenheit, and the humidity seems to stay constant at around 75%.  Our concern is the chlorine fumes from the pool--will they harm the plant?  Thanks so much for your help!

Answer
Hello Margarett,

Thank you for your question. It is unlikely that the chlorine fumes will affect your hibiscus so I wouldn't worry. I would however set the plant far enough back to prevent any direct contact with the pool water as a result of splashing, etc. Your hisbiscus should do very well in the sunny, warm and humid conditions you describe. One thing you might want to watch out for is insects such as scale, spider mite and/or mealybug which will also flourish in the greenhouse like conditions of your enclosed pool.

Please feel free to submit a follow up should have additional questions.

Regards,
