unidentifiable plant in garden

Question
It is a 3.5 to 4.0 feet tall plant with elongated, fuzzy 12 in. long leaves.  The upside down cone shaped top has one-half inch flowers (yellow in color). The flowers bloom a few at a time, not all at one time and they fall off quite easily.  Is it an alien life-form grown from some space-spore?

Answer
John,
I think you have mullein which is considered both a weed and a wildflower.  It is a member of the verbascum family.  Here are some picture links.

Sorry, it's from this planet.  I hope this helps.

Hi John,
I had never heard of the moniker Aaron's Rod.  That's a cool name too.  I'll be sure to remember it.
thx,
Tom
