Shade lovers

Question
Hey! I think I finally have a question for you that's actually in your expertise! LOL!

Shade loving perennials!

And by shade loving, I mean 90% shade.

I'm running out of front yard to plant stuff. Which leaves the back yard. However, the backyard is in the shade all day until late afternoon (after 4 pm) due to our recently built porch.

Is there anything I can plant back there that can survive? If it means anything we also have an underground spring that runs parallel to the house so the trees and grass back there are always healthy.

Do you have any recommendations?

I'm in zone 7-8

Answer
Hi Desi,
Thanx for your question.  There are lots of things you can plant in shade like that.  Creeping myrtle, ivy, ferns, hostas, columbine, wood poppy, crested iris, hardy geranium, pulmonaria, astilbe.  Also, dogwood and pawpaw trees will grow in shaded conditions underneath the canopy of larger trees.  I hope this helps.
Tom
