Phalaenopsis - Wilting Leaves

Question
I have had this particular phalaenopsis for about 2 years. First it had a snail or mite infestation (they ate little holes in the leaves every night), which I took care of by soaking the potting mix and foliage in a dilute dawn soap and water mixture, which took care of the problem immediately. I repotted it in a generic orchid mix with only a small amount of moss mixed in with it about 6 months ago. When I repotted it only a small portion of the root system was rotted and before repotting I dusted the roots with cinnamon (which is supposed to have good anti-fungal properties for orchids).
But it has had chronic wilted leaves for about 4-5 months.
I fertilize with an orchid fertilizer once a month.
It is outdoors in a superb lighting condition. I usually water 1-2 times a week. For a little while I tried watering just a little at time every other day - but that didn't help either.

I am at a loss.

Answer
Janie, it does seem as though you have root rot so I would re-examine the roots to see if you have any that are mushy and should be removed.  I suggest that you use a coarser potting mix containing fir bark and eliminate the moss which can retain too much moisture and lead to a rapid breakdown of the potting mix and to root rot.
