What kind of fertilizer does Anthurium need

Question
I have two Anthurium plants.  One gets more early morning sun than the other.  It has developed dark brown on leaves.  The leaves are mosly light green.  the other is in sun only in late afternoon and looks a lot healthier.  What kind of fertilizer do they take?

Answer
Hi Alma,

Use a fertilizer with a 15-30-15 formulation. It is better if it is a complete fertilizer with micro and trace elements, as well. Use it only at half strength monthly.

However, I doubt that fertilizer is going to make the difference for your Anthurium. Improper watering and light are the likely causes of the symptoms you described, but I would need more detailed information in order to be more specific.

How far from each window are your Anthuriums? How many hours does the sun actually shine directly on the leaves for each plant? What kind of potting mix are they planted in? Did you repot them? What size pot are they in?What is your watering routine? A photo emailed to my address below would be helpful.

Sorry about all of these questions, but all of it may be related to the symptoms you described. I don't want to mislead you into thinking that fertilizer will solve the problem, because it will not.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
