Re: asparagus fern

Question
I divided a huge Asparagus Fern last fall and potted the three (3) pieces.  It had to stay in my laundry room with about 8 other plants so it didn't receive much light and turned brown and started dropping needles.  As soon as it was warm enough this spring to put it outside I did so, well now it is time to bring it back in the house and right now it is sitting on the top of my dryer and the stems are hanging down to the floor and then some.  Can I trim it or what should I do?  It is going to be hard to find a place for it to stay all winter.  Thanks in advance for your advise.

Answer
Connie,

Yes you can prune it, I just pruned mine on Sunday. You can prune off entire fronds around the outside to make the plant smaller and you can prune off half the length of long fronds. The sunnier the location you find for it the less needles it will drop. Good luck.
