Leaves with no tentacles

Question
Last month I bought a cape sundew for my local super market. The info on the box did not seem like enough information so I did some serching and ran into cobraplant.com.
I followed the information and it was doing very well, sending 3-4 new leaves a week for over a month. Recently though the new leaves look very funny, crumpled and one has no tentacles. I also have this fuzzy leaf emerging as well. Is this normal? The tentacles are a nice bright red and the leaves are covered in large drops of dew.

I took the plant out of it's box did not repot it though it didn't appear to need it. I'm keeping the pot in 1 inch of distilled water and never allow the tray get lower than .75 inches filled. The lighting is a single 23w sunlight bulb kept one inch away from the plant. Maybe not enough light?

P.S: The venus fly trap and my pitcher plant I bought from you are doing very well outside.

Any help is very appreciated,

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Amanda,

Your growing conditions sound good, and the plant producing big dewdrops is a good indicator of that.  The symptoms sound more like your plant may have aphids.  If you can send me a photo I can give you a much better idea, and advise on how to help.  I don't want to recommend a pesticide spray unless I know that is really the problem.

Good Growing!
