Crepe Mrytle being eaten

Question
I live in North Texas and have several Crepe Myrtles on my property.  Recently I have noticed that the leaves are being eaten (particularly high on the tree) but I can not find any bugs on the leaves.  Is it possible that the bugs are only coming out at night?  What could it be?

Answer
Hi Bryan                                                             How r u?It sounds like u have Japanese beetle which they hang out in the soil and come out at times like night or in am.They eat from top 2 bottom. The good thing is there is a product on market that u can buy that works very well. Its made by the BAYER MED COMPANY and its a tree/shrub insect/feed in one.A spray wont work u need systemic insecticide that the tree takes up and helps kill 4 up to a year. This product also kills any other pest that mess with the crepe myrtle scale/apids/mealybugs and as it controls it will promote new growth as well. They sell it at Walmart n Target and many other stores in Texas.Check there web site out 4 more info plus other stores that sell it.Also read label to make sure how much u need depending on how many n big the trees r.http://www.bayeradvanced.com/product/tree-shrub-protect-feed/                             Good luck n Keep me posted!!!
