Question
little bug with black stripe
little bug with black
HI,
I've been staying at my friends house. her garage is a room but has been used as storage for a couple of months. i've been seeing these little bugs they are kinda fast but i at night i saw one by the door and it just stayed there for a while. i've seen them on walls, desk, bed, and door.  one of the bottom drawers had 2 or 3 small ones so i took it out and emptied it. i'm very curious to know what these are. please help

Answer
Lydia,

I can't see the image clearly enough to be certain but this looks like a dermestid beetle larva (carpet beetle), see http://www.livingwithbugs.com/carpet_beetle.html for another picture. The larvae feed on a wide variety of dry foods and natural fabrics. They are harmless but can be a nuisance if the numbers get too high. My guess is there's an infestation in dry food or pet food in the room or possibly a natural fabric like wool. See the page cited above for control info.
