Walkway woes

Hello, I just had my side entrance walway done in bluestone, I am stuck on how to design the planting. I'm sending you a picture. On the picture to left we will pave our driveway up to the house but then is leaves about 2 ft of space, we have no idea what to plant and were. Any help would be grateful. Thanks..Our house is Italiante style and we live in CT.

Dear Heather,

You're a neighbor... we're in New York and the majority of our clients are in Connecticut.

For your walkway, what I would suggest is something evergreen or semi-evergreen with a mounded effect to compliment your European style of landscape.  (To read my most recent article on European landscapes, visit http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/interior-decorating-14-in-new-york/gina-samarotto )

You may want to try Liriope 'Big Blue' or a hedgerow of dwarf boxwood to achieve the effect.

At this time of year, it would be wonderful to under plant the Liriope with crocus or tete e tete narcissus so the semi evergreen foliage of the plant is highlighted with bright spring color.
