Outdoor sprinkler system.

Question
Larry-  I live in AZ.  My house has a Toro El-6+ Sprinkler system with two zones.  Each zone has a separate bronze valve (?) associated with it.  Yesterday I turned off the main water supply to the house and today my automatic sprinkler system failed to work in either the automatic or manual mode.  I checked the circuit breaker it was not tripped.  I opened the petcock on each of the two bronze valuves and primed them with a small amount of water.  Nothing worked.  I reset the date and time imputs still NG.  Since I bought my house as a resale two years ago I have no instruction manual for the system.  Would you please supply me with any ideas you may have on this subject?  I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Dan Kelly

Answer
Dan,

We know right off the bat that the problem is not electrical, as you get no water when you manipulate the manual control on the valves. My suggestion is to backtrack from the valves to the main supply line and see if there is some hinderance such as a ball valve that got closed. If still nothing, next I would go back to the main water supply and shut it down, open the manual controls on the valves, and then reopen the main. Don't forget to check the flow control on top of the valves to see that they are still open.

Good Luck
Larry
