Hunter Control

Question
I have a hunter control, which run some valves on city water and some on well water. I cannot get the control to turn on the well water pump. The city water works fine. I have the well hooked up to my house and my daughters next door, the control on my house works fine but my daughters doesn't. If I turn the pump on with my control then my daughters valves water. It just started this week been working good for 3 years. What am I missing.
Thanks
Ron

Answer
Hey Ron, I hope this helps. Normally your pump will have a relay on it, that is hooked to the controller. In the back of the controller, look for a terminal marked either PS (pump start) or MV (master valve). It is probably one of three things. #1 the controller is not sending out a signal to the pump. To check this, take a volt/ohm meter, and when you turn a valve on with the controller, take a reading from the common lead (neutral wire on the volt/ohm meter) and touch the other lead to the pump start terminal. You should get a reading from 22 to 26 volts. If you're not getting a reading, it could be your controller. #2 if you're getting a good reading at the controller, there will be a wire that runs from the pump start terminal, to  the relay at the pump. Check your voltage at the relay, to make sure the wire is good. #3 it could be your relay. If your voltage at the controller and at the end of the wire is good, then you probably need a new relay. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Thanks and have a great day.
