Floral Arrangements

Question
Thanks for your response. I don't want to grow them (I would love to, but it's a little impractical in New York City!)

What I want to do is learn how to arrange them. The arrangements are usually roses or a combination of flowers. They are arranged in what looks like a goldfish bowl -- nice and round, and the arrangements are nice and round from all angles. I thought I'd ask arround since I can't figure out how to do it myself!

I have fallen in love with the lovely floral arrangements that look like perfect half-spheres. The flowers I see most often in these arrangements are roses. They are very expensive in the florist's shop. (But then, everything in New York City is expensive...)
Do you have suggestions on how to make them?
Thanks!

hi, thatnks for your e-mail. im sorry but i dont quite understand what you mean. do you want to know what the half-sphere flower is or do you want to know how to grow your own roses.

Answer
basically, you get your round bowl bought from any florists and tie oasis tape round your bowel and piece of oasis to secure it in. then you get your foliage, i would recommend eucalyptus or salal.
start by greening up your bowel into a round shape, similar to a football. once you get your shape right with the greenery you are then ready to start following the shape with your flowers. try to opt for only 3 or 4 different types of flowers, any more will result in your arrangment being top heavy and will fall apart, also try and use light headed flowers such as small roses or freesia and spray carnations.

good luck. dawn
