Decorating an arch

Question
Hello! I am doing the flowers for my own wedding in the spring and have bought a rose arch to decorate. I am a little concerned as to how I should go about decorating the arch so that the flowers stay fresh. I am going to use tropical leaves and a few lillies and roses. I was planning on just weaving the flowers and leaves in the lattice of the arch. How can I ensure that the flowers don't droop? Should I use a garland oasis for the flowers at least?
Thanks very much!

Answer
Hi Neelum - you have a few options - firstly you could do it the traditional way and cover your arch with damp moss which you attach with floristry wire - then you put your flowers and foliage into that and they stay fresh - the moss makes a nice background as well.  Second option is to use oasis garlands but these look horrible unless you cover them really well, and then they can look bulky.  The third option, and the one I think most appropriate for you is to get a load of small plastic vials with lids - you can then put each stem into these (with water) and weave them through the arch so the flowers stay fresh.  You would have to take care that the vials don't show - you can get these cheaply at florist suppliers.
A final option would be to wire glass testubes all over your arch and put the flowers into these with the tubes being part of the design.
Good luck
Jane
