Wedding Flowers

Question
Hi! My question is in regards to wedding flower centerpieces..we are having fresh flowers and trying to keep cost down and my florist said that I cannot use acrylic vases for my arrangements...is there any particular reason she would say this...is it bad for the flowers?

Answer
There is no valid reason why you couldn't use an acrylic vase and fresh flowers - the only potential thing that you may consider is that the acrylic vase is lighter in weight - so, it may tip over easier than a glass vase - BUT, it all depends on the style of either vase that you will be using. I know of some florists that have switched to plastic/acrylic vases to keep their costs down.  Ask your florist why she would not want to use your idea.  Talk with other florists around you - if you don't feel completely and 100% comfortable with any of your vendors, it's time to research your options before you plunk down the hard earned $$$ - not to mention, if you clash now - the stress isn't worth it by the time you get to your wedding.  A good florist ( in my opinion ) is willing to work with various options to keep to your budget AND be able to create something tailored to your liking.
