cylinder vase centrepieces

Question
QUESTION: Hi please can you help as i am going crazy with trying to solve this.  I have purchased several cylinder vases 60cms tall and 11cms diameter. I want to make centrepieces using all white roses but cant find out how to secure the roses in the vase and make them look full and attractive. i know that bouquet holders are usually used but would these be big enough for my vases as the tops are quite wide and i am afraid they wont look right. please help as i am getting married in 2 wks and need to have a solution
Many thanks
michelle

ANSWER: Hi Michelle,

Yes, bouquet holders will work.  They can sink a bit into the vase if need be, the length of the material you're working with will disguise the mechanics.  Get the largest holders and nip the handle off.  Then secure to the vase with floral clay - a tiny amount on a few points will keep it secure.  I would also recommend filling the vase with water, glass stone or other ballast for weight to keep them from being top heavy and possibly tumbling!  Cut the roses and other material long enough to extend past the lip of the vase so the balance of the design keeps to a proportionate scale.  Good luck!

QUESTION: Thanks so much for answering me so quickly, but i'm afraid i panicked a bit and have since ordered some 20cm floral spheres which do not have holders, will these work as well and can i secure them in the same way or will i need to go back to the bouquet holders? alsodo i soak the foam thoroughly before doing the display or will the weight be too much? I am planning on using crystal pearls in the vases, do you think this will be enough weight or do i need something else? I really want a clear vase so dont really want to use stones and gems will be too expensive to fill the vases as they are so big.
I really would appreciate any suggestions as i am panicking about the whole thing. thanks for listening you are an angel

Answer
Dear Michelle,

You'll have to soak the foam for the flowers to fare well.  I would secure the sphere FIRST by using floral clay, then turn the entire thing upside down to soak.  Once wet, it won't stick.  At least put water in the vase to give it ballast and you should be fine.  Good luck!
