bonsai care

Question
Hello,

I have a bonsai and I don't really know much about them or how to care from them aside from making sure they are never dry and always have water in the humidifying basin (I believe that is what it's called).  It has grown considerably since I've bought it, but I believe there is an art to bonsai.  Am I supposed to trim it or shape it in anyway?  Maybe, if there is a lot to this, could you direct me to a good book which can help.

On another note: I have a bamboo, and I know your specialty is bonsai, but they are some-what similar.  I have many bamboo plants, and they are a few years old at least and they have been doing pretty well for themselves.  However, recently the tips of their leaves have been turning yellow, but they don't feel dry.  Are my bamboo's ok? Am I doing something wrong or not doing something for that matter?

Thank you - sorry about the length

Answer
Hi,

A good book is one written by Colin Prescott (I don't remembered the name, I not at home!) ??Bonsai?.

About the bamboo, perhaps is vitamins or nutrients problems, I don't know. But if I was you I give them vitamins (there are for bonsai). I not talking about fertilizers (like N, K, etc.). OK?

Give me news!!!

Good luck!

Regards,

Filipa
