Celandine poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) sty-lo-FOR-um dy-FIL-lum

Celandine poppy is an eastern U.S. native wildflower with attractive leaves and flowers. It prefers moist, shady areas and will naturalize in a site it likes. Leaves are bluish green, deeply cut, and lobed. Summer brings bright yellow, poppy flowers in small clusters. Use in a woodland, border, or rock garden. It may become weedy.

Noteworthy Characteristics: 

Scalloped, deeply cut leaves and bright yellow flowers. Native to woodlands of the eastern U.S. 

Care: 

Needs moist, moderately fertile, humus-rich soil. in full or partial shade. Direct sun will scorch it.

Propagation: 

Divide in spring, or sow seed in a cold frame in fall.

Problems: 

Slugs and snails may attack plants.
