Outdoors, a Purple Velvet Plant a very unique plant that originated in Indonesia, is a woody perennial that can often grow up to 4 ft. wide and 2-3ft in height. Indoors the Purple Velvet Plant or Purple Passion Plant as it is sometimes called, makes a beautiful hanging plant that has toothy (multiple tips) green leaves covered in velvety purple hairs. The leaves have a reddish purple underside. A Purple Velvet plant produces small yellow/orange flowers that have a rather offensive smell and should probably be removed as soon as they appear. This is a very lovely colorful hanging plant that can brighten up any room.
