Treating Unhealthy Anthurium Plants

Anthurium plants are usually very sturdy, yet from time to time growers of even the strongest plants run into troubles. Perhaps your plant had been doing well for a while, but now it does not look so good. Here are a few of the complications that you may perhaps be encountering and how to cure them.

Light levels can be a large determinant of the health of your plant. In the event the leaves of the plant appear to be bleached and the ends of the leaves are turning brown, the probable cause is too much light. Try moving your plant away from the source of light or discovering a method to shade it from the strong light. If the plant generates a lot of foliage but few blossoms, insufficient light might be the trouble. Try increasing the light which it gets, but be certain you do not go too far and present it too much light as demonstrated by the symptoms in the list above.

In the event the leaves of the plant are becoming yellowish or brownish, this could be an indication of over-fertilization. You must quit adding additional fertilizer for a while. Next you should clear out the surplus plant food by giving your plant a great deal of water. However, be sure that right after you have flushed away the plant food you allow the water to empty well.

Fungal troubles are generally brought on by excess dampness and not enough oxygen reaching the roots of your plant. If your plant seems to be stunted, and it's producing light, wilted foliage, there is a great probability it is experiencing fungal root issues. The diagnosis is generally not as positive as with some of the other difficulties you may encounter. But what you can do is attempt re-potting using a potting mix which drains better and enables more oxygen to get to the roots.

A lot of the difficulties your anthurium plants confront could be fixed by using the solutions mentioned previously. Even so, fungal issues are especially hazardous and rather than attempting to resolve them after the fact, you need to attempt to be sure that they never happen in the first place. The very best method to do this is to utilize a good planting blend that enables plenty of air to get to the roots. Additionally, be sure you allow any water you give the plants to drain out from the pot and away from the roots.
